DiSylvester Scholarship

The DiSylvester Memorial Scholarship was created in honor of our late President and CEO Peter DiSylvester, who was dedicated to increasing the financial awareness and overall education of TruWest’s members. Because there is a lack of scholarship opportunities available for upperclassmen, we created this scholarship to help students pay for their final years as an undergraduate.


A two-year scholarship of $2,500 per year


  • Must be a TruWest Credit Union member in good standing (not a member? Join here.)
  • Must be a full-time sophomore who will attain full-time junior status in the following semester. Junior status will be based upon the existing criteria for the respective university
  • Must be in a degree program at an accredited university or college in the United States
  • Must be pursuing first undergraduate degree
  • Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Must have no criminal record
  • Must be a U.S. citizen


Applications will be accepted from May 1, 2018 through June 30, 2018.

Winners will be notified by the Scholarship Committee on or around August 1, 2018.

Disbursement Information. Three (3) two-year scholarships of $2,500 per year will be awarded to two (2) full-time students at an accredited university or college in Arizona and one (1) full-time student at an accredited university or college in Texas. A fourth scholarship may be awarded to a full-time student at an accredited United States university or college outside Arizona and Texas. Each year, funds will be paid directly to the educational institution indicated on the application when enrollment begins for the fall semester. These funds will be paid prior to each semester in two $1,250 installments, providing the student maintains good academic standing. In order for funds to be disbursed, proof of enrollment must be provided to the TruWest Scholarship Committee.

Official Rules. Eligibility for scholarship: Must be a TruWest member to apply. All persons must be 18 years or older, and U.S. residents. The application period begins on May 1, 2018, and ends on June 30, 2018. Employees of the credit union, Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and their immediate family members are not eligible.

Release of Claims: All winners, members of any winners’ household, relatives and persons who use any prize awarded by credit union, and such persons, heirs, assigns, executors and administrators release and exempt credit union and it directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all claims, actions, demands, chooses in action and damages which they have now or any time in the future arising from use of any prize, including personal injury or death.
