We understand that unexpected expenses may occur at inconvenient times. That is why we provide our members with a discretionary TruCourtesy Pay program that allows us to pay your items rather than returning them, should you overdraw your account1.

  • What are the benefits of TruCourtesy Pay (TCP)?
    Answer:

    TCP protects you from fees normally charged by merchants for items returned to them.

  • What is covered by TCP?
    Answer:

    Standard coverage includes checks, ACH pre-authorized debits and online bill payments. Complete coverage includes ATM withdrawals, ATM transfers and everyday debit card transactions, in addition to standard coverage2.

  • How much does TCP cost?
    Answer:
    • Our standard overdraft paid fee is $15 for each negative item we pay.
    • The overdraft fee is waived if the total negative balance is below $20.
    • For consumer accounts, we will only charge up to two TruCourtesy Pay fees per day.

Make Sure You're Covered

When you open a TruWest checking account, you may automatically be granted standard coverage after a 60-day waiting period. To opt in to complete coverage:

    Log in

    Log in to your online account.

    Opt-in

    Under the Online Request Forms menu, access the Opt-in for Debit Overdraft Service form.
  3. 3

    Accept terms

    Confirm your information at the top of the form, and check Yes to accept the Terms and Conditions.

    Submit

    Fill in any specific questions or instructions, and click Submit Request.

1Must be a TruWest member with minimum $5 membership deposit and continuing balance to open a checking account. Checking account must be in good standing and remain open and properly maintained for 60 days or more to qualify for TruCourtesy Pay. Accounts must be brought to a positive balance within 30 days, or TruCourtesy Pay will be removed. Accounts that exceed the TruCourtesy Pay limit may be withdrawn from program. Discretionary TruCourtesy Pay is not a line of credit and can be withdrawn at any time.
